We are approximately 200 people, working in cross functional teams to design and develop SVT’s online services, platforms and functions. What we do

Programming

We work in agile autonomous product teams who make their own tech choices and are responsible for their product. Many teams gladly practice mob programming. We build for constant experimentation and user testing with everything among others React, Node, GraphQL, Unity, Kotlin.

Growth and Experiment

We strive towards a culture of intensive learning through a data-driven approach to increase the value of our content and services for our users. We work cross-departmentally and experiment with content, publishing, marketing and development to make the users find us and come back.

Open Source

At SVT, we strive to take part in the open source community. We believe that by contributing our resources we add value both to the public and to ourselves, and also foster collaboration culture and openness. Design / UX / Accessibility

Design and innovation is at the core of product development at SVT. Our art directors and UX designers work with research, user testing, and creative concept development to ensure that our products create great user experiences, have a clear visual communication, and meet the highest standards of accessibility.

Agile / Mob

We strive to work in a truly agile manner – but we refuse to enforce any agile framework upon our teams. Instead, at SVT the teams themselves chose what they believe work well for them. And quite a few have chosen to mob program or even mob develop – and hey, working together is often more fun than doing it alone, right?

Data and Machine Learning

Data is one of our most important assets. We are building our own data platform to democratise data and insights in our organisation, optimise learning and decision making as well as enhancing our services for the users with machine learning and data-driven decisions.

Video Encoding

We love video and we always think outside the black box. Innovation is a must to keep up with ever-increasing expectations on video quality while keeping distribution costs reasonable. Our video encoding is powered by in-house solutions and industry-standard open source components, running on commodity hardware. We always strive for the best possible quality regardless of the end user device.

Diversity & Psycological Safety

At SVT we believe diversity fosters innovation. In order to build the best possible user experience we need people with different backgrounds and different perspectives, so that we can truly understand our user’s needs.
But having a diverse workforce means little if you don’t feel safe enough to be your true self. Therefore we strive to create a psychologically safe environment, for every individual and every team.
